Ireland is an island surrounded by water, so it seems only fitting there might be some decent seafood to be had. So it is a mystery people don’t necessarily associate Ireland with delicious seafood, but they should. It is not just fish and chips on offer anymore; the shores are full of top-notch clams, mussels and cod. No matter where you are in Ireland, but especially on the coasts, you can find something delicious and interesting. Here are some restaurants to check out.
In Dublin, take a look at the Chop House. Not only do they have excellent fish and chips, but they are also known for cured salmon and pan-fried catch of the day. If you are feeling adventurous, try the seafood marinara linguine.
If you are hiking down the Wicklow Way along Ireland’s Southeastern coast, then check out Fish Bar. This is a casual spot doing great things with prawn tacos and fish burgers.
If you find yourself in Cork, then try out the highly recommended Fishy Fishy. There are many local options to choose from and the local oysters and mussels are some of the finest.
Lastly, all the way in the north in Belfast, camp out in Fish City. There are multiple menus for this place and depending on what time of day it is, you will want to make an informed choice, but you cannot go wrong with the smoked salmon, mussels or chili squid. And, of course, there is always the award-winning fish and chips.
