Traveling presents rare opportunities where there is nothing to do but wait. Waiting for an airplane to take off, waiting for a train to arrive and waiting in line to check in at a hotel are just moments of time that can be spent engaging in the leisurely activity of reading, something often pushed aside amid the chaos of daily life. Whether you choose to read from an e-reader device or from an actual book, the environment in which you read is not always of your control. When the lights are dim and the page becomes dark, pull out the Beam n Read reading light, a device that helps you see better in a few unique ways.

Worn around the neck, the hands-free Beam n Read light shines soft light to help illuminate what is around you, whether a book, a dark hallway or a dimly lit bathroom in the middle of the night. Built-in filters block out blue light known to disrupt sleep patterns, allowing the device to shine a warmer tint and provide a more relaxing reading setting. These red and orange light settings are ideal for reading in bed just before going to sleep.

The light uses AA batteries and boasts a longer battery life than most personal reading lights, but also comes with an optional USB adapter to reboot the battery when it is low.

The Beam n Read travel light comes in two varieties: the LED 6 task light with six bulbs, which retails for $29.95 on Amazon.com, and the LED 3 travel and reading light, which costs $19.95 on Amazon.
