As the weather continues to heat up this summer, head indoors to some of these newly opened or soon-to-be opened museums around the world.
A one-of-a-kind Ice Cream Museum opened in Los Angeles in April, located in the downtown’s art district. The museum invites visitors to partake in an experiential ice cream journey, complete with 10 unique installations including a banana split made from 10,000 bananas, a melted Popsicle jungle and a swimmable sprinkle pool.
The Louvre Abu Dhabi — reportedly opening in the coming months — is the Gulf branch of the famous Musée du Louve in Paris, created through collaboration between the French and UAE governments. The museum’s spectacular dome resembles sunlight shining through palm trees, and the impressive collection seeks to tell the history of art by bridging the gap between East and West.
American history buffs will not want to miss the Museum of the American Revolution in Philadelphia, Pa. The museum, ideally located in one of the country’s most historic cities, takes visitors through an interactive journey of our nation’s origins.
Visit the Musées Yves Saint Laurent this fall for a taste of luxury and fashion in Marrakech, a city that deeply influenced Saint Laurent’s life and work. In dedication to the legendary designer, the new museum will feature 5,000 items of YSL’s clothing, 15,000 haute couture accessories and tens of thousands of sketches.

If you find yourself in Tennessee’s Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area this summer, check out the newly opened Alcatraz East Crime Museum. The museum gives visitors a look into notorious American crimes, forensic science, law enforcement and the justice system, with artifacts from different eras. The building was designed as a combination of Tennessee’s first state prison from 1898 and guard towers inspired by the Alcatraz lighthouse in California.
