Nov. 22 marks the 51st anniversary of the JFK assassination. Learn more about the life, death and legacy of President John F. Kennedy at The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza. Located on the sixth and seventh floors of a warehouse, formerly the Texas Book Depository, the Dallas museum is housed in the exact spot where it’s reported Lee Harvey Oswald shot JFK.
The museum’s permanent exhibit on the sixth floor features film clips, photographs, radio clips and artifacts highlighting the life, death and legacy of President Kennedy. The museum has approximately 45,000 items in its collection. Temporary exhibits are housed on the seventh floor. In addition, the museum hosts special events and monthly programs. For those interested in doing additional individual research, make an appointment to visit the Reading Room, open Monday–Friday. Here you’ll have access to more than 6,000 books, magazines, newspapers and video clips covering every angle of Kennedy’s legacy including assassination conspiracy theories and his role in 1960s pop culture. Visit the Museum Store + Café and Museum Bookstore to bring a piece of Kennedy history home with you.
The museum is open Monday 12–6 p.m. and Tuesday–Sunday 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Free audio guides are available with exhibit admission.
