For travelers in southeast Asia, the Suoi Tien Theme Park is a must-visit location. “Suoi Tien,” meaning “fairy stream, is a Buddhist-inspired waterpark and cultural park near Ho Chi Minh City, full of enormous monuments to Vietnamese folklore and Buddhist tradition.
Visitors will find a strange place with an assortment of architectural wonders like statues featuring a giant tortoise, elephants, sprawling dragons and phoenixes. Additionally, the park is loaded with intricately designed arcs and pillars, and other works of masonry — each many stories tall.
There are a number of areas across the many miles of landscape of the park, including the Crocodile Kingdom. Those guests brave enough can use a fishing rod to drape raw meat over the pond and feed one of the 1,500 live crocodiles below. Or, for those that wish to keep their distance, the “mid-air bicycle” will suspend guests above the crocodile farm, similar to chairlifts at Western amusement parks.
Another peculiar area of the park is the Palace of Unicorns. Although it sounds pleasant, this section of the park features a very graphic representation of Buddhist hell, so those with children should steer clear.
Finally, visitors can slide down one of the many beards of the Buddhist wise-men, whose heads are sculpted into the various artificial mountains around the park.
