Abu Dhabi is a luxurious destination full of striking modern buildings and over-the-top experiences. The capital of the United Arab Emirates is not particularly known for being a cheap locale. Check out our recommendations for visiting the city on a budget.
Start your morning at whEAT at Le Royal Méridien Abu Dhabi. Enjoy a sweet pastry or a hearty breakfast sandwich for about $9. Go for a stroll along the Corniche and experience Abu Dhabi’s stunning coastline. You’ll get a great view of the beaches and can window-shop along the way. Make your way to Saadiyat Island and take advantage of the free beaches.
Grab a quick bite for lunch at Shawarma Time. Order a tasty sandwich, platter or daily special for about $10. Tour Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. Entry is free for the popular landmark. Keep in mind: The mosque is a place of worship and dress code is strictly enforced.
For contemporary Japanese cuisine in Abu Dhabi, look no further than KOI. Crispy rice with tuna and hamachi are standouts. Dinner costs $40–45. End your evening with a stroll through the lavish Emirates Palace. While the hotel might break your budget for an overnight stay, a visit to the stunning property comes at no cost. If you have money left in your daily budget, stop by one of the hotel’s bars for a nightcap.
