Home to a variety of waterways surrounding the town, the unique Maine community of Naples is filled with an abundance of outdoor activities waiting for adventurers to enjoy.
Fuel up for the day at Sandy’s on Long Lake Restaurant and Bar, boasting a good breakfast and great views of the lake. Enjoy watching the boaters and fishermen get ready for the day while eating generously sized omelets with fresh ingredients for about $10.
Take to the water for the rest of the morning by boat, kayak, jet skis or just by swimming. Visitors can explore Long Lake, Brandy Pond and Sebago Lake in Naples with kayaks for the price of $40 for a full day from Sebago Trails Paddling Co. Sebago Lake State Park is an excellent place to spend the morning, featuring acres of sandy beaches, ponds and diverse habitat nestled in the shadows of the White Mountains.
After working up an appetite, visit Naples Lobster Pound, a roadside gem open daily serving juicy lobster rolls and fresh clam chowder reasonably priced. Grab a lobster roll for about $12 and enjoy the casual atmosphere.
Spend the afternoon at Blacksmiths Winery, one of the state’s largest, producing award-winning wines from local fruit. The tasting room is open to the public Thursday through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you’re more of a brew enthusiast, head to Bray’s Brewpub, serving a variety of handcrafted ales daily in a rustic Victorian farmhouse downtown.
Hit up the Black Bear Café for dinner, an authentic Irish pub in the heart of the city. This popular Irish pub is created in the spirit of country pubs in southern Ireland, with all staff members trained to pour a perfect pine and an extensive selection of Irish food favorites. Entrees such as the fish ‘n chips start from $18. Stick around to enjoy traditional Irish music at night, featuring popular local and visiting artists during the high season.
