Winter is coming, and with it, optimal conditions for skiing, snowboarding and cold-weather activities in southern Vermont. Check out the following itinerary for some snowy inspiration.
Start the day where you’ll spend it: on Stratton Mountain. The Market at the Main Base Lodge has everything skiers and snowboarders need to fuel their day of outdoor activities. Diners can opt for a la carte options like scrambled eggs starting from $3 or choose to build their own croissant or bagel sandwiches for $7.
In the morning, take a guided tour of Stratton Mountain for free. Each day beginning mid-November, a resort host guides skiers and riders for free around the mountain. The tour lasts about an hour. Meet at the information desk in the Main Base Lodge to take advantage of the deal.
The resort also boasts a number of training and fitness classes throughout the day as alternative ways to get your workout on when the weather is not so great. Tennis, indoor cycling and yoga are all on tap for $15 per class.
Stratton Mountain Deli is an excellent inexpensive spot for lunch, offering a variety of specialty sandwiches with Boar’s Head products, burgers and burritos for about $10.
Opt to purchase an afternoon adult lift ticket rather than a full day, as it will cost you $69 as opposed to $85 during the week. Visitors can shred any of the 670 acres of skiable terrain at the resort, offering 97 trails and 11 lifts.
Grizzly’s at the Base Lodge is a popular spot for dinner and late-night snacks after a day on the mountain. Draft beer specials, wood-fired pizza and a whole menu of delicious dishes and snacks are offered as well as great views and live music. Prices start from about $11.
