Your best friend is getting married and you’re ready to celebrate. You get the invitation for the bachelorette party, only to find out one night of fun is turning into a weekend trip. Destination bachelorette parties are incredibly popular, but they can also hurt your wallet.
To avoid breaking the bank, think about what you can afford. If the maid of honor planned shopping, dinner, dancing and then brunch the next day, find out if you can just attend one or two events. You’ll be able to control your spending, but also have fun. Most importantly, your friend will still be happy that you were able to celebrate.
If you have committed to the entire weekend, look for discounted hotel suites. Encourage your friends to think of the party as a big slumber party. Bunking up can be the solution to a costly hotel room. It also presents a great opportunity for do-it-yourself manicures, pedicures and facials.
Destination does not always translate to distance. The bride could have just as much fun going into the next major city for the weekend. You’ll avoid the time and expense of flights and you can often carpool and save a lot of money. If the maid of honor does have her heart set on a trip across the country, keep your eye out for discounted flights.
Remember the big picture. The bride wants to have fun. She won’t remember if you went to a winery for a fancy tasting or you sat around drinking boxed wine and playing games.
