As an increasingly popular destination, Positano is still an unspoiled Italian region with a population of 4,000 people. This Italian Riviera locale offers clear blue water, coastline scenery, activities, seafood and more.
Many hotels in Positano include breakfast (bread, fruit and coffee), but a few euros for something sweet and a strong espresso is hard to beat while strolling beachside or watching the sun rise over the Mediterranean.
Spend the day swimming, eating gelato (around €2–3 a cone), or head inside the vibrant yet quaint shops for a bit of bargain hunting.
The cobblestone streets will be lined with vendors selling artisan crafts, while the shops are often filled with painted glass, pottery and linen clothing, famously designed in the former textile town. No need for cab fare as this town is easily walkable from top to bottom.
After a full day of bargaining in shops, hiking, swimming and sunbathing, relax on a boat tour along the Riviera for around $40. Boats go out for an hour or more and depending on the size of the group, can be quite affordable.
For dinner, drinks and a view, La Cambusa offers exceptional seafood, fresh vegetables and fine wine and cocktail selections for a fair price. With most ingredients locally grown, caught and prepared, dishes are more affordable at this seaside restaurant than other more touristy destinations found in town.
