If you’re looking to hit the slopes this winter, there are many ski resorts in close proximity to New York City. Many offer discounted packages that include bus and train transportation to and from the city. Here are some resorts offering good deals this season:

Hunter Mountain

Paragon Sports runs round-trip bus service from its store in Union Square. All packages include a lift ticket, bus fare and breakfast and a movie on the bus. Price: $79-84.

Emilio’s Ski Shop runs bus trips from its store in Forest Hills, Queens. Their Lift & Transport packages include round-trip bus fare and access to three mountains. Price: $84.99 on weekends; $74.99 on Wednesdays.

Thunder Ridge Ski Area , a smaller resort, is located less than 90 minutes from Manhattan and offers some of the best rates, particularly for families. The Thunder Ski package includes a round-trip ticket on Metro North, a free shuttle from the Patterson, N.Y., station and a lift ticket. You can buy the Thunder Ski package from a Metro North ticket agent, vending machine or on their website. This deal is only offered on Saturdays, Sundays, Christmas week, Martin Luther King Day and President’s Day week. Price: $58.75 for adults, $23.50 for children ages 6-11 and $8.50 for children under 5.

Windham Mountain, located in the Catskills, is a big resort offering activities for the whole family such as snowboarding, tubing, zip lining and ice-skating.

Island Ski Tours offers a package that includes round-trip bus fare from midtown Manhattan and lift tickets. Price: $99.

Belleayre Mountain, also in the Catskills, offers snowboarding, cross-country skiing and more than 50 trails. Adirondack Trailways, which departs from Port Authority, offers round-trip bus fare and a lift ticket for $93.
