Under $100 / Caribbean

St. John’s is the capital and largest city of Antigua and Barbuda. This Caribbean destination is a popular docking spot for cruises. With plenty of shopping, dining and activities, St. John’s has more to offer than a short shore excursion.

Start your morning with a stroll through the Public Market Complex. Located steps from Green Bay, the market features local produce and goods from dozens of vendors. Grab some fresh fruit and juice for breakfast for about $10. A craft market full of handmade goods from artisans is right next door.

A trip to the beach is a must during a visit to the Caribbean. It’s easy to get around on the small island of Antigua, so take time to discover the perfect beach for you. Have lunch at Hemingway’s. Enjoy a piña colada and one of the eatery’s tasty Caribbean dishes for about $20.

Make your way to Nelson’s Dockyard. The cultural heritage site and marina in English Harbour gives visitors a look into the history of St. John’s and Antigua. Admission is $8. Venture up to Shirley Heights for a stunning panoramic view of English Harbour.

Dine at The Cove at Blue Waters Resort for dinner. The resort restaurant is open to the public and offers beautiful oceanfront views. Fresh seafood appetizers and entrees are standouts. Dinner costs $40–50.

Carnival takes place during the summers, typically in late July through late August. St. John’s is a non-stop party at this time.
