Are you looking for a peaceful vacation in 2024? Window Gnome ranked the best states for travelers interested in a remote getaway. The home service company compared the 50 states across nine metrics broken into four categories: access to remote vacation rentals, guest ratings, average nightly rates, and number of outdoor attractions. Key metrics include median air quality index, number of top-rated remote accommodations and natural hazards index.

The top 10 states for remote getaways in 2024 are:

  1. Tennessee
  2. North Carolina
  3. Texas
  4. Georgia
  5. Arkansas
  6. Oklahoma
  7. Missouri
  8. California
  9. Kentucky
  10. Washington

Southern states offered the most remote vacation options, with seven ranking in the top 10. Louisiana ranked in first place for most affordable nightly lodging rate, with Wyoming coming in as the most expensive. Minnesota, Montana and Nebraska ranked highest for outdoor friendliness.
