Horse lovers are in for a treat each December as the London International Horse Show gets underway.
This year’s event was hosted at Olympia in west London, and a huge number of equestrian activities ran from Dec. 15– 21. Riders came from all over the world to participate in what the organizers call the “Christmas party” of British equestrianism.
Participants of various abilities and ages ride in a number of different disciplines including dressage, jumping and racing. Among the most hotly anticipated events was a show from Jean-Francois Pignon, who commands a troupe of dancing horses using only his voice.
Another event which attracted those who aren’t riders themselves was the Extreme Driving event. Four powerful horses drag a small carriage around a tight circuit, showing off the awesome strength of the animals and the driving skills of the three-man team.
An on-site Shopping Village also provided the perfect opportunity to pick up some last-minute gifts for the horse lovers in your life, or a treat for yourself.
