With an ever-growing dependency on technology, having a phone battery die is not an option. Whether on the go or off the grid, we want our phones charged without having to sit by an outlet. Fortunately for backpackers, back to school students or even daytrippers, there are backpacks with solar panels built in to charge our devices while out and about or in the case of an emergency.
The BirkSun Backpack comes in a variety of styles from messenger backs for $99 to a variety of a backpacks ranging from $99 to $199 depending on style and color. Each backpack’s solar panel is waterproof and built for the elements; however, the bag cannot be submerged in water.
For serious off-the-grid goers, there is the Voltaic Systems Array Solar Backpack. There are three backpack options ranging in price and wattage capability, but the most expensive and high-powered bag can charge a phone for seven hours after an hour and a half in the sun. For $379, the Array Solar Backpack is by far the most effective this company has to offer.
The greatest bargain; however, is with the Solar Bear Backpack for $79 with four hours of output voltage. There are cheaper bags on the market, such as VIVO for $39.99, but the Solar Bear overall has great space and compartments, solar charging ability and price combined where cheaper brands lack in actual functioning.
