Data used to create the rankings was compiled from the U.S. Census Bureau, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Council for Community and Economic Research, Numbeo, Little League Baseball and Softball, the Trust for Public Land, Meetup, the Alliance for Biking and Walking, Yelp, U.S. Squash, Global Tennis Network, WalkScore, Golf.com and WalletHub research.
