Traveling abroad is one of the best things money can buy. Capturing the moments and memories along the way make them timeless. But, many don’t have the budget or the packing room for a big professional camera. Not to worry. Phone photography is becoming so advanced, sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference between a mobile photo and a photo from a DSLR. If you’re traveling abroad and want to embrace your inner National Geographic photographer without emptying your bank account, check out these photo-editing apps that can give you many of the same effects of professional photography.

AfterFocus

A lot of professional photographers play around with depth of field. The subject is in focus and the background is blurry, or vice versa. This app allows you to choose which parts of the photo you want blurred and which ones you’d like in focus to create the strong depth of field appeal to the photo. This app is available on Android and iOS.

SKRWT

Many times while traveling the view is so beautiful, but the phone lens doesn’t capture it all. That’s where a wide-angle lens on a DSLR would come in handy. The wide-angle option on most phones can make the photos look bent and distorted. SKRWT allows you to fix the distortion to give the effect of a wide-angle photo without the wacky distortion so the image appears most like it would to the naked eye.

Enlight

This app is new to the market and coming in hot. It was named “2015 App of the Year in eight countries and Apple called it the best all in one photo editor. It makes sense it costs $3.99 to download, but it’s packed with tools and tips to enhance the creativity in your photos that most can only do with expensive programs like Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom.

Where to Find the Best Stargazing Spots in Ireland

This year, the Northern Lights put on quite the display across Ireland, but don’t think these lights are the only thing you can see in Ireland. In fact, many spots across the country provide some of the best opportunities to stargaze thanks to low levels of light pollution. Ireland has three International Dark Sky Parks and even more spots which, although not accredited, are worth a visit for anyone wishing to see the sky in its unfiltered form.
