Costa Rica has gained a reputation as a destination for wellness travel — so where exactly should you stay if you’re planning a wellness-focused getaway to the country sometime soon? Try one of these three options.
In Santa Teresa, this boutique property sits within Costa Rica’s Blue Zone, a designation applied to areas of the world where residents tend to live longer, healthier lives. The property offers a mix of bungalows, suites and villas, and offers a special Blue Zone Experience, in which you can fully immerse yourself in the array of practices often credited for Blue Zones’ impact on their residents.
Set on a rain forest reserve, this resort really lets you disconnect and get away. The resort boasts a large network of thermal hot springs and was the first hotel in the country to achieve an “elite” certification in sustainable tourism. Sustainability efforts include reforestation, water management, environmental species tagging and more.
Another reserve-set resort, this property sits inside a rare ecosystem: a tropical dry forest. This year, you can stay in the resort’s new West Bungalows, luxury treehouses with private terraces overlooking the canopy.
