If you are a planning a visit to the Dutch capital, you will be spoiled for choice for things to do.
Anyone making a trip during the summer months will be able to enjoy the famous Dutch love of cycling, meandering along the canals to discover the city on two wheels. All of this exploring will give you your bearings in the city, and let you find your way around easier.
Make sure you head to the famous flower markets to take in one of the most iconic sites in Amsterdam. The Bloemenmarkt is the best spot to buy some Dutch tulips.
Another popular attraction is the Heineken Experience, which takes you on a tour of the brewery of one of Holland’s most famous beers. You’ll get a window into the workings of the master brewers, and get to sample some of the fruits of their labor.
The Red Light district is one of Amsterdam’s must-sees, even if you don’t plan to indulge in any of the services on offer. Walking the neon-lit streets is a fascinating experience, especially if you are from a place where prostitution is illegal.
Football fans should take a tour of the Amsterdam Arena, where you can learn about the history of Ajax, one of the most storied clubs in Europe. If you’re not into football, you can hire a boat instead and navigate your way around the canals to get a different perspective on Amsterdam.
The city is also packed with museums and galleries for your enjoyment. The Van Gogh Museum, Anne Frank House and Museum Van Loon are among the best.
