Whether you’re all about the fall foliage, looking for some haunted happenings or just want to enjoy a good festival, October is the perfect time to check out the events and festivities going on in Mississippi. Here are a few favorites.
This event, Oct. 6–13, brings together hot rod enthusiasts, but you don’t need a vintage ride to have fun. The entire Mississippi Gulf Coast puts on a giant block party to welcome attendees, with live music, vendors and more happening in every town along the cruise route.
In Laurel, the Loblolly Festival, held the first Saturday in October, celebrates the city’s sawmill town heritage. Meet Mr. Loblolly himself (a lumberjack mascot), and check out the many vendors, offering local arts and crafts and festival-favorite foods.
In Greenville, the Delta Hot Tamale Festival takes over Oct. 18–19. Tamales are, of course, the star of the show, but other highlights include arts, music and the Delta region’s overall cuisine.
The same weekend, Oct. 18–19, the Natchez Balloon Festival takes to the skies with hot air balloons, live music, art and food vendors, fireworks, a carnival, and more.
