Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site, lies in the heart of Warsaw, the oldest part of the city. With buildings dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries, Old Town features iconic structures and places like the Royal Castle, Barbica, city walls and squares, and St. John’s Cathedral. This fascinating statue, dubbed the Mermaid of Warsaw, represents Warsaw’s coat of arms, which can be traced back to 1390. The statue also points to many legends about the mermaid. Warsaw Zoo is one of the most popular zoos in Poland and home to more than 11,000 animals across more than 500 species. Exhibits include elephants, Hippopotamus House, a shark aquarium and Ape House.
