Traveling with your favorite shampoo can be tricky with TSA restrictions on bottled liquids, but hair powder is a little-known alternative that could put your shampoo to shame.
Not all dry shampoo is created equally. Many of the big brands contain aluminum starch octenylsuccinate, which the Cosmetics Database rates 4.9 out of 10 on a danger scale. Talc-based products are not great either. Although talc is a natural mineral, it is highly processed through crushing, milling and fragrance, so the only talc left are tiny fibers that resemble the structure of asbestos.
Lulu Organics was started by Linda Aldredge in upstate New York, purely on a whim to learn how to make the products she used. The hair powder was her first success and proved to be a hit with the customers who appreciated her handmade products and organic ingredients.
So for people who can’t use their favorite shampoo, this solution is incredible for your hair, but convenient enough for travel. Their hair powder is certified organic, talc-free and works just as well, if not better than traditional shampoo. Just pour a little on your head and work it into the hair. There’s no dust left on your scalp, as the powder disappears as it absorbs the natural oils and moisture from your hair.
The hair powder comes in four scents that smell great without overpowering: Lavender + Clary Sage, Jasmine, Patchouli + Amber and Vetiver + Black Pepper. Lavender and Jasmine are available in one-ounce travel size, making it perfect for campers and backpackers who don’t have access to a shower everyday.
