In massive airports like San Francisco International or John F. Kennedy International in New York City, it can be quite time consuming and take a lot of walking to navigate the dining scene. If you have adequate time before your flight or between flights, you may have enough time to scour the possibilities when your stomach starts to growl. Without this precious time, however, an app has been developed to aid you in your search for the perfect pre-flight or between-flight snack.
AirGrub is a free mobile app that lets you browse a menu of meals and snacks and order your grub before you even arrive at the airport. Once the app is open on your phone, enter your airline and flight number, the time you plan to pick up your food and the food you want from a menu, which features sample meals from restaurants in the airport. When you arrive at the airport, simply go to the AirGrub booth, show your boarding pass and ID and pick up your food.
Although currently available only in San Francisco (SFO), New York (JFK) and Boston (BOS), there are plans to expand the idea to other airports nationwide. Soon, a fresh meal will be ready for you without the hassle of waiting in line. Plus, it will give you something to do while you wait to de-board your plane or while standing in the security line.
