When ordering Grubhub isn’t going to cut it, those in New York City can try out Beetle House, a Tim Burton-themed restaurant and bar inspired by all things dark and lovely. Beetle House makes it Halloween all year-round.
The restaurant has been such a hit, they’ve expanded it to the West Coast, offering Gothic delights to those in California. The two restaurants are completely independent of Tim Burton and Warner Bros., and are operated by super fans of Tim Burton, horror films and all things Halloween.
“The idea was simple, create a space where people who love Halloween, horror films, Gothic, dark and moody music can gather for a meal and drinks. Sports bars are great if you are into sports, but what about the rest of us? Imagine a place with the same enthusiasm as a big time sports bar but instead everyone is celebrating films, music and art? This is the type of place I want to create. A safe space where it really feels like Halloween all year round and people can come, enjoy good food, good drinks, listen to good music and feel completely comfortable to be as freaky as they want to be. This would be my home for the freaks, weirdos and grown up goth kids of the city,” said Zach Neil, co-founder, Beetle House.
Waiters plays the part of actors as they embody famous Tim Burton characters, while menu items pull inspiration from this type of art and movies, like Sweeney Todd, Fleet Street Martini, and Edward Scissorhands, Edward Burgerhands.
The NYC flagship location opened officially in April 2016 at 308 East 6th Street and experienced six months of sell-out nights. In the coming months, Beetle House will elaborate on additional concepts, celebrate a broader and detailed approach to Halloween, zombie culture, horror films, music celebrations and art shows, as it pops up as a non-permanent location in cities like Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Nashville, Seattle and more. Be prepared to experience themed music events, dinner theater, art exhibits and other artistic expressions.
Next time you’re in town, check out Beetle House — a nightmare come true, in the best way.
