Destinations / North America

Austin, Texas, is known as the live music capital of the world, making it a great location for music lovers. This guide will take you on a stroll through the city and, never fear, you will get to enjoy Texas BBQ along the way.

Start your day at Barton Spring Pools. Take an early morning swim to feel refreshed.

Head to Paperboy on East 12th for breakfast. Order the steak and egg sandwich (Texas wagyu, mushroom relish, chimichurri, sunny egg, buttermilk bun) with hot coffee ($15).

Next, head to the Texas Capitol to participate in a guided tour of the building and the surrounding areas ($10). You will get to stroll along Congress Avenue and Main Street, and learn more about Austin and Texas’s history and local heroes.

Your lunch spot is where you’ll get to enjoy the famous Texas barbeque. Franklin Barbeque is your location. Barbequed ribs, with a side of potato salad, and a glass of Underwood Pinot Noir on tap makes for a great meal ($35).

Next, head to the Austin Visitor Center and explore the location for free events, the media wall, and the gift shop.

Walk to the Mexic-Arte Museum to learn about Mexican heritage in Texas, as well as works from local and regional artists ($7).

Swift Attic is your dinner destination. Enjoy the Char Siu Pork Belly (orange puree, crispy bao bun, radish, serrano pepper) and a glass of the 2014 Maximin Grunhauser Riesling Kabinett wine for dinner ($30).

The Elephant Room shares the same address, so walk over to enjoy live music at the underground jazz bar following your meal.
