If you’ve got zombies on the brain, a Big Zombie Walking Tour on your next trip to Atlanta is a must. Choose from an Atlanta-based tour operator or head south of the city to Senoia. Both locations offer an inside scoop on all things zombies, the Atlanta film industry and the long-running The Walking Dead.
The Atlanta location tour features Rick’s hospital, Daryl and Carol’s bridge, and the tank scene from season one. The Senoia location is about 35 miles south of Atlanta and features locations from Woodbury and Alexandria, along with Hershel’s bar and memorable death scenes.
Both zombie tours are typically guided by real-life extras from The Walking Dead or other franchises. Our own zombie turned tour guide offered fascinating insights like difficulty finding thin and wiry zombie extras, what the actors are really like, and the challenge of working under the hot Georgia sun and cold evening air.
The tours are fun, informative and ideal for any zombiephile looking to increase their knowledge base of all things undead. Instead of choosing between the tours, opt for both and spread them out during your Atlanta stay. It’s also an interesting way to see more of the city through the lens of the city’s growing movie industry.
