Richmond, Virginia, is the perfect destination to celebrate Juneteenth. The Black community and culture thrive through local restaurants, art galleries and historic sites.
Events
Juneteenth Block Party Festival
The Black Village of Richmond hosts this festival for the second year. The day includes live music, food, spoken performances, games and much more. The event includes the support of more than 100 Black-owned businesses, aiming to showcase the city’s Black excellence and highlight the community’s legacy.
With Father’s Day and Juneteenth falling on the same weekend, the NAACP Hanover Branch celebrates both June 19. Travelers and locals alike can celebrate fathers and the Black community with food trucks, street vendors, wine tasting, music and more.
On June 26, join the Elegba Folklore Society at its annual Juneteenth celebration, featuring live performances, the Freedom Market and the ancestral homage at Richmond’s African Burial Ground. Before the celebration, take part in the Torch Lit Night Walk to learn about the history of Enslaved Africans through songs and stories.
