The world’s largest home sharing network mastered the art of providing travelers with exclusive experiences that go beyond the traditional hotel or hostel stay. Airbnb offers alternative lodging like treehouses, castles and private islands in an effort to expose travelers to the local life and provide unique experiences. But the affordable accommodation company plans to venture into a new line of properties that feature high-end opportunities for guests who opt for luxury over affordability.
Although Airbnb already offers an array of higher-end options, the new selection will feature upscale choices not previously listed on the site, like a villa in an Italian vineyard or a Beverly Hills mansion surrounded by celebrity homes. Thanks to Airbnb’s recent acquisition of Luxury Retreats, a Canadian company that hosted guests in luxury rentals around the world, Airbnb has even more opportunity to expand to travelers of all budgets.
These properties will differ from Airbnb’s previous properties because the experience will resemble more of a hotel stay in terms of amenities (bathroom items, meal service, etc.) and the opportunity for hotel-like services such as daily housekeeping. Airbnb may also add a concierge service to up the ante of its offerings to clients, with the hope to appeal to all subsets of travelers.
