Tips / Travel

Airports are like beauty obstacle courses, with their dreary lighting and limited primping spaces. Airplanes are the ultimate challenge with dry, recycled air, cramped spaces and a miniscule bathroom. You probably want to feel fresh-faced and ready when you reach your destination —even if, internally, you feel like you’ve been squished in a dry, metal tube for hours. Here are a handful of ways to help you look fresh.

Drink Up

Drink plenty of water and avoid caffeinated or sugary beverages. As tempting as that in-air cocktail or soda might be, the longer you are on the plane, the more dehydrated your body becomes, and the more your skin will show it.

Moisturize

Apply a deep moisturizing face cream liberally before you fly. The cream will help your skin cells stay hydrated while the circulating dry air pumps around you on the flight.

Pack a Moisture Punch

Apply a tinted moisturizer, rather than a heavy foundation, when you reach your destination. The tint will even out your skin tone and bring out the luminous, bright tones in your skin. Heavy foundations tend to cake on tired, dry skin.

Highlight

Apply a highlighting pencil to the inner corner of your eyes and underneath your eyebrows. You can also opt to apply a small amount along the top of your cheekbone. Blend with your fingertip or a sponge to even out that glow.

Apples and Cream

Apply a warm cream blush to the apples of your cheeks to produce a healthy pop of color and introduce more of that soft, moisturized look to your skin.

Always remember to stay hydrated and rested whenever you are traveling. Take some immune system boosting vitamins before you travel to help you avoid getting sick.
