Allianz Partners recently revealed the results of its summer 2022 travel study. The travel insurance company analyzed more than 1,175,000 flight itineraries for trips between five and eight days to reveal the most popular summer travel destinations.
Overall, travel will be up 16 percent this summer over last year. Orlando, Florida, and Cancun, Mexico, took the top domestic and international spots, respectively, for the most popular destinations. Tropical destinations offer the largest draw, with Hawai’i holding two spots in the top five. Interest in the Pacific Northwest grew, with Seattle moving up two spots from 2021 and Portland appearing in the top 10 for the first time since 2019. Internationally, Mexico is the most popular country, with three destinations in the top 10. The Caribbean is another popular draw with Montego Bay, Jamaica, and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, moving up spots from last year.
