The Allure Chocolat Hotel in Cartagena, Colombia, is one of the most beautifully decorated hotels I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying in. Between the scenic views of the city, the charming and attentive staff and the ridiculously comfy beds, there is little about the place that isn’t exceptional.

I arrived a bit earlier than standard check-in time on Friday and was promptly placed into an immaculately cleaned room. Like all good travelers, the first thing I did was plop on the bed after a long flight. It felt like I was sleeping on clouds. After getting a good nap in, I slipped down to the pool to relax as I had a few hours to kill before my friends arrived. The pool was stunning, clean and the bar served some of the most delicious drinks around. The bartender was friendly and fun, as were most of the staff I encountered.

When evening rolled around, my friends and I decided to stop by the hotel restaurant for a meal. The food was superb, much better than some 5-star establishments I’ve been to, though I understand the breakfast offering might leave something to be desired.

In terms of location, the hotel is an easy 10-minute walk away from the most popular attractions and the front desk is happy to help call a cab when you’re in need. The Allure Chocolat Hotel has easily become one of my favorite hotels in 10 years of traveling, thanks to a wonderful staff and excellent amenities. I would highly recommend it to fellow travelers heading to Cartagena.
