You may be dreaming of exchanging your vows fairytale style in your very own castle for a day, but there’s no need to hop a plane to Europe to make it happen. You can find quite a few gorgeous castles right within the United States to host your wedding. Here are some of our favorites.
Joslyn Castle
Built at the turn of the century by Nebraska’s wealthiest couple, Joslyn Castle in Omaha was built for today’s equivalent of $6 million. The castle includes a reception hall, music room, gold drawing room and ballroom. Booking this venue for your wedding gives you access to the entire 35-room estate and its 5.5 acres.
Boldt Castle
The proprietor of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel built this Rhineland-style castle on its own island in New York’s Alexandria Bay. From the drawbridge to the dove cote to the Italian gardens, every last detail was attended to. Weddings are often held in the gardens, and a minimum of 50 guests is required.
Iolani Palace
Iolani Palace is the only true royal home on American soil. The residence of the Hawai’ian monarchy, it was built in 1882. Weddings can be held on the coronation lawn, in the courtyard or on the barracks lawn. The palace is only a short drive from downtown Honolulu and Waikiki hotels, making it a perfect venue to host a destination wedding, then honeymoon in the Hawai’ian islands.
Gillette Castle
Part of a state park in Connecticut, Gillette Castle has a medieval feel, with its stone exterior and woodcarvings. The terrace offers views of the Connecticut River and the park’s nature trails cross through the property.
