The world’s oldest sporting trophy will be contested by two sailing boats in the waters off Portsmouth, England, July 23–24.
Over the course of the year, sailing teams from around the world have been competing in a number of sailing events in order to potentially wrestle the America’s Cup from current holder Oracle Team USA.
As it stands Emirates Team New Zealand is top of the leader board. Spectators will head to Portsmouth, Southampton, and the Isle of Wight to catch the race.
Alongside the racing itself there are a number of accompanying events, which makes the America’s Cup a great day out for everyone. You can take a trip around the Race Village to learn about the history of the event, or get to know more about the cutting-edge technology used by the teams. Entrance to the Race Village costs $33.
For those who want the best possible view of the racing action, it may be worth investing in an $80 ticket to the Premier Grandstand. Here, the focus is on those who are serious about the sailing, with each entrant guaranteed a grandstand seat.
After the action is over, there is plenty to see in the region. The Isle of Wight is known as a holiday destination for its bucolic countryside, while over the water the New Forest promises plenty of adventure, especially for those who are keen on horse riding.
Get your tickets from the official America’s Cup Portsmouth website.
