If you’ve spent too many uncomfortable nights camping on top of troublesome stones, or simply like the idea of being rocked to sleep by the wind, the Amok Equipment Draumr is for you. The Draumr is a hammock-tent hybrid invented by a team of Norwegians, whose first edition sold out to buyers from more than 15 different countries.
Although the pleasure of swinging lazily in a hammock is widely romanticized, the truth is it can quickly become uncomfortable for people who sleep in certain ways. The Draumr changes that, providing a completely flat bed to suit any kind of sleeper.
Not only is it comfortable, two trees are all that is required for it to become a cozy bed for the night, with an accompanying tarpaulin providing shelter from the elements. The Draumr can also be quickly and easily turned into a recliner chair, its occupants protected from blood-sucking pests by a mosquito net, able to enjoy their favorite beverage stored in the built-in cup holder.
For such a versatile piece, it doesn’t increase the weight of your pack too much, weighing in at just more than 4.5 pounds. High-build quality means the Draumr should last a long time, and Amok is confident enough to offer a two-year warranty.
You can now pre-order the Draumr 2.0 on the Amok website, and it will be delivered to U.S. customers May 1.The second-generation Draumr will set you back $340 if you order one now, rising to $399 later in the year, and you can choose from blue or green colorways.
