Amsterdam’s annual pride event takes place July 25– Aug. 2 this year. The citywide festival attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors to Amsterdam every year. Celebrating its 20th year, the event is one of the largest publicly held events in the Netherlands.
Amsterdam Gay Pride hosts dozens of events throughout the festival including discussions on the subjects of debate, art, theater, film, dance and sports. In addition to organized events, the city hosts street parties and nightlife specials all week long. The highlight of the festival is the Canal Parade. Taking place on Saturday, Aug. 1, participants showcase their pride on festive boats for the four-hour parade. The route spans more than 3 miles, allowing spectators to grab a prime spot along the canals.
