Getting around an airport is a challenge, especially when you’re half asleep craving your next hit of coffee. Those in-flight magazines often don’t give you the faintest idea of what to expect when you land, and if you’re in a rush and you want to know the quickest way to get to your connecting flight, those maps just make things even more stressful. Luckily, the solution is at your fingertips, and with just a few apps, you’re going to love your next layover.
GateGuru is a great app that lets you look up every detail about restaurants, shops and any amenity you might need in most airports around the world. You can filter by terminals and ratings, and even read tips left by other users to get you ahead of the game. There are some drawbacks; however, as some airports have limited data on maps and amenities, but this is a free app so you’re getting a great deal.
The worst thing about airports is often the lack of seating. But have no fear. Lounge Buddy will help you rest your legs. Airport lounges aren’t just for the first-class flyers, many of them are available to anyone for a fee, so use this app to check up on the nearest lounge to you, their reviews, amenities and prices.
An extremely helpful app, only available in a few airports in the United States, is the Mobile Passport app. It allows you to skip those long, boring queues for Custom and Border Protection. All you need to do is go on the app upon landing at the airport, fill out your profile details and answer those tedious customs questions. Once you’ve received a receipt, you’re on the home stretch with no standing in line! This is especially handy for those who don’t have Global Entry, and a great way to get revenge on the guy who snored next to you for the last two hours.
