The Philadelphia Museum of Art brings a bit of culture to Friday night happy hour with its Art After 5 program. I recently attended with two friends last week, and it was a pleasant way to spend a few hours after the busy workweek.
The Philadelphia Museum of Art is the crown jewel of the city’s arts and culture scene; years since my last visit, I’d honestly forgotten how beautiful it was. The venue is nearly as breathtaking as the artwork on its walls. Art After 5 takes place in the Great Stair Hall. For $20, I gained admission to the Friday evening event, and free admission if I chose to return the next day.
Tables and chairs were set up throughout the hall, with live music and two bars. Gallery tours are scheduled all evening and attendees are free to wander around and explore the exhibits. Cocktails, wine and beer are served, as well as light bites and appetizers, catered by Starr Events.
My friends and I took in great works of art, chatted over a glass wine and enjoyed the jazz performance (one runs 5:45–6:45 p.m.; the other from 7:15 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.). Upcoming performances include Joanna Pascale, Jamaaladeen Tacuma, Alita Moses, Takuya Kuroda and Deco Japan.
