Head to Tucson, Arizona, this April for the 16th annual Agave Heritage Festival. The four-day celebration highlights the cultural impact of agave in the region through spirit tastings, culinary events, educational seminars and other experiences.

Agave is one of the most recognized plants in the region, with more than 125 species throughout the Tucson metro area. The versatile plant is known for its medicinal, nutritional, horticultural and spiritual properties. Agave has been used for mezcal distillation for generations.
“The Agave Heritage Festival is very much a living, breathing event. Because of this, we get to see it evolve and grow every year, and 2024 is no exception,” said Francisco Terrazas, programming and partnership director, Agave Heritage Festival. “Through a lot of hard work on the part of the entire team, the festival continues to be a celebration of not just the agave plant, but the entire borderlands region.”

This year’s event takes place April 18–21 in various locations throughout downtown Tucson. Highlights of the festival include musical performances from Flor de Toloache and Som do Sisal Youth Brazilian Orchestra, an accredited agave educational series, and a women’s collective expo and tradeshow.
