Gay marriage is officially legal in 37 U.S. states and at least 13 countries, and these destinations are trending as welcoming places to celebrate your union in love.
The Netherlands
Having your wedding in the first country to legalize same-sex marriage would be an ode to making history. To be married here, at least one member of the couple must be a Dutch citizen or have residency. Check out our LGBT guide to Amsterdam for some fun places to stay and go.
Dutch Caribbean
While the Caribbean Islands are still behind the times, the island of Saba is a Special Municipality of The Netherlands, and is authorized to perform legal same-sex marriages. Gay marriage is a norm there now, and the island is especially couple-oriented, perfect for your dream beach wedding in the heart of paradise.
Hawai’i
Who doesn’t want to be married on a Hawaiian beach? And this U.S. island has tons of incredible attractions for LGBT couples. Lava Lava Beach Club is one of the best-known LGBT-friendly accommodations and ceremony providers, and has a location on both Kaua’i and Big Island. Wedding planning by Hawaiian Style Gay Weddings are specialists in delivering exactly what their name indicates. Check out their website for help finding the perfect photographer, location or minister.
Vermont
The beautiful, classic New England state of Vermont is a serene and rustic spot for the wedding of your dreams. Popular LGBT-friendly ceremony sites include Green Mountain Inn in Stowe, Moose Meadow Lodge in Waterbury and Basin Harbor Club on Lake Champlain.
Luxembourg
The bill to legalize gay marriage in Luxembourg took effect in early 2015, so this tiny European country is fresh on the same-sex wedding scene. The Grand Hotel Cravat is notably gay-friendly, and check out ZanZen Bar and Restaurant for your wedding celebration.
