Forests around the world showcase some of the most beautiful settings to enjoy the outdoors or capture amazing photographs. With wooded areas covering around 31 percent of the Earth’s surface, going in any direction will eventually lead you to one. Here are some of the most stunning forests to visit around the world.
This forest in Germany is home to the first cuckoo clock made from the pine trees that create a dimly lit area that spreads across 100 miles. The dense forest is beautiful year-round with brightly colored leaves in the autumn months and a snow-covered bliss in the cold of winter. The magical forest was the inspiration for the Grimm Brother’s tales.
Located in a warmer climate, the Taman Negara is one of the oldest rainforests — around 130 million years old. This jungle has a canopy walkway that hangs throughout the trees for a view of the beauty from above.
More than 49,000 acres of protected forest takes up the highest peak in Spain’s Basque Country. Willows, alders, ash and poplars make up most of the tree species that create a whimsical aura over the small waterways that snake through the land. This forest is ideal for fairytale-like photos or art inspiration.
