Berlin’s 23rd annual Lesbian and Gay City Festival takes place June 20–21. This year’s event will take place in a designated area more than 65,000 square feet around Nollendorf Platz in the Schöneberg district, a traditionally gay neighborhood. Motzstrasse, Eisenacher Strasse, Fuggerstrasse and Kalckreuthstrasse streets accommodate festivalgoers. More than 400,000 visitors are expected to attend the festival in 2015, making it the largest of its kind in Europe.
The two-day festival features information booths, performances, music, parties, a beer garden and food. Lesbian and gay entertainers and DJs will host performances at the five entertainment venues. This year there are seven themed sections: positive world, world of film, world of politics, world of radio, world of travel, world of sports and world of wellness and health. A wide range of exhibitions from lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender groups take place during the event. The various programs begin at 11 a.m. and the partying lasts late through the night.
Check out the VisitBerlin website for more information about the city and its LGBT culture.
