Tips / Destination

San Francisco has a reputation for being an expensive city. However, there are plenty of budget-friendly spots to visit. If you’re planning a trip to The City by the Bay, check out our favorite budget bites.

Good Luck Dim Sum

Clement Street is home to multiple dim sum restaurants. For authentic, no-frills options, check out Good Luck Dim Sum. Sample the delectable dumplings, rolls and buns for $1–5. Keep in mind the restaurant is closed on Tuesdays.

Sam’s

This hole-in-the-wall pizza and burger joint has the Anthony Bourdain seal of approval. Order a burger, fries and a soda for $8.99 at this late-night favorite.

Waterbar

For oyster specials, look no further than Waterbar. The two-story restaurant boasts stunning views of the Bay Bridge and Treasure Island. In addition to a seafood-heavy menu, Waterbar offers an oyster happy hour daily, 11:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. for $1.05 per oyster.

eatsa

Ideal for a quick meal, eatsa is a healthy restaurant in the style of an automat. The menu includes bowls filled with clean, flavorful ingredients starting at $6.95.

Hot Sauce and Panko

Serving Korean-American comfort food, Hot Sauce and Panko packs a flavor punch into their wings. An order of wings starts at $6.89, or splurge and get the wings and waffle combo for $10.99.

Bi-Rite Creamery

Now with two locations, Bi-Rite Creamery serves hand-made, small-batch ice cream. Try one of the unique flavors including honey lavender, or order a sundae or ice cream sandwich for around $4.
