Being proactive about environment health and responsible with your actions in your travels can enhance your experience. You’ll know you’re making a positive difference and spearheading a movement to make all tourism eco-tourism. Here are some things to keep in mind to be the most eco-friendly on your adventures.
Before your trip, do your research and choose a travel provider that makes an extra effort to carry out eco-principles and practices. Be a global citizen and learn the local history, culture and customs of the locals before arriving, and try to know enough of the language to be polite.
During your stay, be sensitive about the local culture. Wear appropriate clothing (for example, some churches in Europe require your shoulders to be covered), and ask before taking a picture of someone. Try to support local stores, transportation, hotels, restaurants and markets to benefit the local economy, and conserve your resources. Be aware of the hardships in the area, such as drought, and make sure to act responsibly.
