Traveling in Guatemala is incredible, and you’ll want some souvenirs to remember your time in the country. Here are some of the best.
Alcohol is a great gift for someone, or a treat for yourself when you get home. Guatemala produces one of the best rums in the world, Ron Zacapa, that won global recognition for its flavors. Pick up a bottle before you fly home.
Alternatively, you could buy a bottle of Quetzalteca, the traditional Guatemalan aguardiente. It’s not as complex as Ron Zacapa, but it’s traditional.
Guatemala is also famous for its coffee, and taking a couple of bags of beans home is a great idea. There are various coffee regions to choose from, each with its own flavor profile.
For centuries, Guatemala was ruled by various Maya kingdoms, which used the precious stone jade for jewelry and religious ceremonies. Today, you can buy jade jewelry or figurines to add a Guatemalan touch to your life.
If you’ve got the room in your bag, a traditional wooden mask is a great souvenir to brighten your home. There are different sizes and designs available, so choose wisely. Nim Pot in Antigua is the best place to purchase one.
Another good idea is textiles, still made by traditional methods in certain Maya communities. Pick up a table runner or a rug to add a splash of color to your house.

A new study from Cruisebound shows more millennials are cruising, as the average age of cruisers trends downward. The study discovered the largest portion of cruisers are ages 25 to 44, making up 45 percent of all cruise bookers. Seniors, aged 55 and up, currently only account for 26 percent of cruise bookers. The platform theorizes this trend in younger cruisers is brought about by cruise lines’ increasing offering of family-friendly experiences and shorter cruises that can be enjoyed over a long weekend.
