Ain’t no party like a global party. The next time you’re ready for a good time that’s totally different from anything you’ve experienced before, head to one of these famous parties around the world. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
Full Moon
Once a month during the full moon, Thailand’s Ko Pha Ngan Island transforms itself from a backpacker beach haven to a wild, all-night long party on the beach. From pulsating beats to buckets of alcohol to fire ropes, nothing is off limits here.
Holi
This ancient Hindu festival of colors takes place each spring in India. Expect bonfires, lots of live music, colored powder being tossed around in the streets and a fun-loving atmosphere.
San Fermin
Though the star of the annual San Fermin festival is the running of the bulls, this Pamplona, Spain, event actually lasts an entire week and is full of traditional Spanish festivities, fireworks and people from all walks of life ready to let loose.
Carnival
The Mardi Gras of South America, this Brazilian week-long celebration is a time to indulge in excess before Lent. While the most famous celebration is in Rio de Janeiro, the parties are found throughout the country. Street festivals, floats, crazy costumes and all-night partying are the norm.
Burning Man
For eight days, hippies, heathens and everyone in between converge in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert. Between art installations, costumes (or no clothing), giving “gifts” to other participants and the ritual burning of “The Man,” this one-of-a-kind festival draws thousands of people annually. These days, tickets are required and the event sells out early each year.
