Trends / Adventure

Bend, Ore., is home to some of the most beautiful sites in the country, and mountains, lakes and waterfalls to hike. It’s a nature lover’s dream. Here are some of the best waterfalls, views and hikes to enjoy on your next visit.

Tumalo Falls

Tumalo Falls is an easy, mostly flat walk to a massive waterfall that you can either hike up toward or view from the bottom.

Smith Rock

For more of a challenge, Smith Rock is a longer, steeper hike with a marked trail.

Pilot Butte

Pilot Butte is a gorgeous drive with a beautiful view of the Cascade Mountain range; you can get out and walk over an extinct volcano to the viewpoint.

Cascade Lake Loop

If you prefer to drive and gaze out your window, this loop is a 45-mile highway with lakes surrounding it. The lakes with the most scenic views are Sparks and Hosmer. Stop at Meadow Picnic Area for a good rest stop to eat and enjoy the scenery.

Proxy Falls

Proxy Falls is a 1.6-mile trail that is short but beautiful with plenty of waterfalls along the way.
