London is a vast city with endless options for getting around. Here are a few that will get you where you need to go the quickest way possible, while also letting you get a feel for this wonderful city.

Take the Tube

The underground subway system in London rivals that of New York City in terms of speed. It’s easily the fastest way of getting around with 11 different lines, though the cleanliness can leave something to be desired. Purchase a daily travel card if you plan on using the tube throughout the day.

Hop on a Bus

There are around 7,500 busses operating in the city of London making it possible to get anywhere you need to go. Busses are the only public transports that travel late into the night, so you might get stuck using this anyway. You’ll be able to see the sights as you go, but plan ahead as it can sometimes be a long trip.

Bike It

Though definitely slow-paced, renting a bike to ride around town can be a wonderful experience. You’ll enjoy more sites, stop at markets along the way and generally have a better feel of the area. The streets can be busy, though, so make sure to pay attention to your surroundings.

Call a Cab

Honestly, these are only good for people in hurry. They’re pricey and getting one can sometimes seem like a competition. If you have no other option, get ready to plunk down between $10 and $20 for a one- to two-mile ride. They are fast and readily accessible.

Just Walk

The best way to get around London is to walk. The streets are pedestrian friendly and you’ll be up close and personal with all the city has to offer. It’s the best way to see the sites and meet new people in your travels. Plus, you’ll get a little exercise in the process.
