In the booming world of subscription boxes that deliver everything from dog toys to juice cleanses straight to your door, Blue Apron stands apart as being both an attractive and affordable buy for food-lovers. Blue Apron delivers a chilled box to your doorstep a set amount of nights each week — two, three, or four days Tuesday–Friday, depending on which plan you choose. Open up the box and you’ll find all of the ingredients needed to make a gourmet meal in your own home, already pre-portioned and ready to go with an original recipe.
Blue Apron prides themselves on their ingredients being fresher than what you’d find at your average grocery store and superior in quality. They frequently partner with small, sustainable, family-run farms and other producers such as bakeries and orchards. Each complete meal can also be fit to your dietary needs, and are typically between 500–700 calories per serving. Meals ranges from vegetarian pot pie with cheddar cheese biscuits to short rib burgers on pretzel buns with roasted sweet potato rounds.
They offer both couple and family plans, with the three-nights per week couple’s plan costing $60 and the family plan for either two or four nights a week at $70 and $140, respectively. The cost comes to about $10 a person, which is a little less than you’d spend picking up take-out on the way home, and much more nutritious! You can cancel or change your plan at any time.
