Darwin’s rich, multicultural atmosphere means there are a surprisingly large amount of delicious restaurants in town to choose from. Though Australia isn’t exactly known for being cheap, there are plenty of places in the city you can eat well on a dime.
The unassuming exterior of Sari Rasa can be off-putting at first glance, but there’s a reason the tables are always full throughout the day. The restaurant serves some truly delicious homemade ginger drinks alongside the best chili beans in coconut sauce in Darwin.
Darwin boasts a wealth of Asian transplants, so it comes as no surprise laska is a popular dish in town. Darwin Laska on Mindil Beach offers the best in the city at a great price. If laska isn’t your taste, the eatery also has some pretty spectacular barbeque pork and curry.
The city’s Asian influence is perhaps nowhere as pronounced as at Chow, a vibrant restaurant located north of the city center. The charming décor is half the reason to come, but the mix of Vietnamese, Thai and Malaysian cuisine is what will keep you coming back.
With so many great options along the Wharf, it can be hard to choose. Stokes Hill is easily the best bang for your buck when you’re craving seafood in Darwin. Live music, great views of the boats floating in the harbor and perfectly cooked fish that won’t hurt your wallet make it one of the best options in the city.
