I recently made my first trip to Nashville. While I knew the music scene would not disappoint, I was also impressed by the restaurant selection in the city. Prior to the trip, we were offered many restaurant suggestions, but “a must” on the list was Cabana.
It was difficult to confirm a reservation, based on lack of availability, but we were lucky enough to secure a table the week leading up to the trip. The overall concept of the restaurant is based on its Cabana-style seating. Ideal for large parties, the cabanas are semi-private booths. Each booth has curtains, which can be closed if you prefer to have a more private dining experience. Inside the cabanas, you will find a TV and an iPod outlet. I loved this idea. We were able to hook up our personal iPod and choose our own dinner music.
For dinner, the menu has a lot of options, which made it hard to decide. We ordered several items on the small plates sections, which was convenient to share amongst the group. The Cabana Fries served with a cheddar horseradish dipping sauce was my favorite. For my main meal, I opted to share the Lobster Brie Mac and Cheese and the Spicy Shrimp and Cheddar Grits meal. Both were delicious! The mac and cheese is a smaller portion served in a martini glass. The Spicy Shrimp dish was served with mushrooms, bacon, tomatoes, scallions and a Tabasco butter sauce. It had a nice spicy kick, but was also not overbearing.
The prices are quite reasonable, ranging about $7 for apps to $22 for entrees. However, on Friday and Saturday, the restaurant does require a $250 spending minimum. This applies to both small and large parties.
Overall, I had a great experience at Cabana and I would definitely return on my next trip to Nashville!
